PROJECTS #BUILDING
Energy Renovation of the Berck Primary School (62)
R-VRAC - UNOCCUPIED ROOF SPACES
Project area: 316 m²
Carried out by the company Isomur, this project highlights the importance of energy renovation for public buildings. By insulating the school's attics with bio-based solutions, the municipality of Berck ensures a healthy and comfortable learning environment for students while reducing its energy expenses.
Project Challenges: Student Comfort and Public Efficiency
Within the framework of this energy renovation project, the challenge was twofold: to improve the thermal comfort of the classrooms and to optimize the municipality's energy budget, while providing a sustainable solution capable of regulating the temperature throughout the school year. The technical objective was to achieve a thermal resistance of R=6 m²K/W.
Insulating the unoccupied roof spaces of a school is a crucial step in limiting heat loss in winter. In summer, it plays a fundamental role in preventing classrooms located under the roof from overheating, thus guaranteeing better working conditions for children and teaching staff. This project demonstrates that high-quality insulation is the best lever for modernizing public real estate.
Key Stages of the Intervention
The Isomur teams carried out a rigorous and secure installation in the school's roof spaces.
Raising the access hatch
Installation of an insulated hatch upstand to allow easy access to the roof space while maintaining the continuity of the insulation thickness.
Creation of an OSB service walkway
Installation of an OSB walkway to allow for future maintenance of rooftop equipment without treading on the insulation.
Implementation by blowing
Comprehensive insulation using mechanical blowing. This technique ensures uniform coverage of the entire surface, eliminating thermal bridges even in hard-to-reach areas, to achieve R=6 performance.
Flagship Product: R-VRAC
To meet the requirements of this public building, the choice fell on R-VRAC, our loose-fill insulation solution derived from the circular economy.
R-VRAC is a bio-based insulation designed from recycled textiles (approximately 20 recycled garments per bag).
It is an ecological and high-performance alternative, perfectly suited for buildings open to the public (ERP), combining thermal performance with a commitment to the planet.
